PayPal wants to grow its market share in peer-to-peer (P2P) payments. Spotting an opportunity to bring its proposition closer to customers, the provider is offering access to its P2P payments services directly within partnering apps and channels.
The goal, according to John Kunze, CEO of PayPal-owned Xoom, is to offer more flexibility in terms of how customers send and receive money from each other. But strong competition in the P2P payments market has prompted PayPal to move quickly. In the past year, the company has formed a number of partnerships with leading players – Microsoft, Slack and Skype, to name a few.
